The all-powerful organisation which, in the universe of Nation, monopolises British trade with "the colonies". nominally Sir Geoffrey is its Chairman. But Daphne's Grandmother is the majority shareholder. This is what we might today call a "multinational" wielding more influence than a mere government. British history has an antecedent, the all-powerful East India Trading Company, which until unfortunate incidents happened in 1857, ran British India on behalf of the Empire.
