Substition is the Discworld opposite of superstition. Superstition being the belief in the things that everyone believes in, but which are not true. Substition is the belief in things which are true but most people do not believe in.

Examples of substition are "It'll get better if you don't pick at it" and "Sometimes things just happen". Belief in the Auditors of Reality is also an established substition.

Known practitioners of substition are 71-hour Ahmed and Susan Sto Helit.

It can be assumed that many of the witches of Lancre are substitious. The behavior of Tiffany Aching is definitely substitious. Specifically her testing the myths about Miss Treason.
