Susan discovers in the Historians' Guild Library that the History Monks' jury-rigging of history is especially egregious in Om and Ephebe, so that the Ephebian philosophers appear to live absurdly long lives, and in Om they just folded two centuries into one. (Thief of Time)

What Pterry of course was doing was patching up the Small Gods Question: while the Philosophers place that book in the same timeframe as Pyramids and the "ever-moving Now", it's also the case that the Reformed Omnianism of, e.g., Constable Visit-the-Infidel-with-Explanatory-Pamphlets has been around for quite a while- "over a century," in fact. Since Small Gods takes place in the Year of the Notional Serpent, which we know to be 1985 in the Century of the Fruitbat, it follows that the 19th and 20th (or the Fruitbat and its predecessor) are the centuries the Monks merged, so that Small Gods occurs in 1885 and 1985 simultaneously.
