Araminta is one of the two less-than-honest aunts of Roland, who take advantage of their brother (or brother-in-law's) infirm condition to movbe in and rob the place blind. At least, those highly valued and easily portable parts which Roland can't safely hide away from them. Her sister is Danuta.
