The author of The History of Hats, one of the many non-magical books stored at Unseen University's Library.

Annotation

A TV advert that ran for years in Great Britain encouraged the British people to use the Yellow Pages, through the medium of a genteel elderly man ringing around bookshops, with no apparent success save on the last call, to ask if they stocked a copy of Fly-Fishing by J.R. Hartley. It was only in the closing seconds of the advert that we realised the elderly man was in fact J.R. Hartley himself... "F.G. Smallflinger" sounds like a distant echo.
