Dunmanifestin is a really obvious reference to Dunroamin (various spellings) in Britain, North America and probably the Antipodes...--Old Dickens 16:17, 16 April 2007 (CEST)

The Gaelic

Thanks Brian, I'm not as good at Irish Gaelic spellings as I would be in Welsh. (the old p-celtic and q-celtic again - minding your p's and q's!) Just when you think you're getting somewhere in deconstructing a bit of Irish and you can see the logic of it, another different grammatical rule or a cluster of those almost-silent consonants spring out to mug you... I knew Donegal was something like that in irish, which is why I took a stab at it and asked for a Gaelic-speaker to check the spelling.

"Fort of the Strangers", huh.... Fingall or Dougall? I suppose more likely Fingall, in a bit of Ireland that goes further north than the "North"... --AgProv 12:58, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
