However, the lure of smoked herring drew back many of the homesick emigrants. The traditional fur garb also did not sit well on people living on a sunny tropical island. however, one brighter-than-usual [[Barbarian heroes|barbarian hero]] who decided to remain on Beowill Island and risk taking his furs off, on the grounds that the balmy climate and lack of bloody sagas made up for the scarcity of any sort of rollmops or sursstroming. His descendants are still there. These days they import preserved smoked fish from home.<br />
