One of [[Moist von Lipwig]]'s useful pubs, the [[Butcher's Eagle]], is in this area. Apparently, according to The revised and expanded city map contained in {{CAM}}, (which has a handy little panel illustrating how all roads lead to [[Ankh-Morpork]], even if you happen to be leaving the city and walking in the opposite direction), this is the road to [[Chirm]]. Logically, if this is the drovers' gate and access to the ~~cattlemarkets~~ and slaughterhouses, animals driven from ~~the~~ [[Chalk]] country by such as [[Seth Petty]] would arrive at this gate.
