In addition to the default assumption that the books were published in narrative order unless there's good evidence to the contrary, the one hint to the dating of Sourcery is Wuffles' age. We know that he is 16 in {{TT}}, which is (we assume) at the start of 1990, and therefore he was born in 1973. Since he's not a puppy in {{S}}, we have to reckon he's at least a year old.
