			Ah, another [[Demarcation]] issue... no doubt Vetinari would rule if the argument between Guilds threatened to get ''intense''.

			I guess the difference between Clowns and comic actors such as Cleese, Fry, Laurie, Atkinson, et c, is that the comic actors are more.... ''innovative'' and ''novel'' in their approach to comedy. They take risks, they are continually adding new jokes and routines, a good stand-up comedian would be continually adding new one-liners to his personal bespoke joke book... all those things which are anathema to the Guild of Fools. I'm surprised there hasn't been a street war in the manner of the Musicians' Guild hunting down unlicenced performers such as the Band... (Hmmm. Fanfic. Just a thought but in {{TT}} it's stated [[Charlie (The Truth)|Charlie]] (Vetinari's double) had entered the Guild of Actors and Vetinari foresaw a happy career for Charlie as a Vetinari-impersonator at children's parties and the likes. In {{RS}} on the otherhand Charlie is described as a clown, doing puppet shows and clowning when not officially taking Vetinari's place.

Considering this suggests he is indeed doing children's parties it raises a small question as where to draw the line between the guilds.

Come to think of it, using Roundworld as an example, many comedians are also actors [or is it many actors are also comedians?] (Catherine Tate, Billy Connolly, Stephen Fry, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Laurie, Tony Robinson, Jim Carrey, Steve Coogan, Simon Pegg, Robin Williams, Charlie Chaplin, Armstrong and Miller, the boys of Monty Python: the list goes on and on!).

Historically there is also a blurring of the lines, with things like '[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commedia_dell%27arte Commedia dell’arte]' - which scarily went on to influence that unlawful act known as miming!
