The thought occurs that with Vetinari having a new dog with special dietary requirements, co-inciding with a perceived need to keep an eye on the motivations and loyalties of ms. Speaker, a man as elegantly economical as the Patrician might combine both objectives by asking Grace to tender for the petfood contract.
