The twin cities of [[Bonk]] and [[Schmaltzberg]] are referred to as Bonk-Schmaltzberg for convenience. Bonk is the surface city largely run by humans, with a necessary accommodation made for [[Vampires]] and [[Werewolves]]. Schmaltzberg is the extensive underground Dwarf city occupying the lower strata of the same region. The new railway station built here as the terminus of the [[Altiplano Express Line]] serves the needs of both communities and is regarded as a civil engineering marvel. Those with no aversion or objection to daylight may board trains at surface level. There is a parallel railway station some hundreds of feet Underground for the convenience of Dwarfs and vampires, who may board enclosed dark carriages here which are shunted out to join the main trains outward when full. The two stations are connected by a steam-driven moving stairway of radical new design.
