The river along which Djelibeybi is situated. It provides fresh water in an otherwise dry and desert-like environment on the coast of Klatch. The water is inhabited by crocodiles. The Discworld Mapp shows it entering into the Circle Sea through a delta, rather than the usual river mouth, in much the same way as the Nile enters the Mediterranean Sea. Information given in The Compleat Discworld Atlas describes the Djel as rising in the Herelayan Mountains in Elharib then passing through a long river valley through Elharib and Ur until it reaches the flood plain, which comprises most of Djelibeybi. The Djel now provides an industry dedicated to crocodile leather, crocodile meat, and the production of luxury bespoke shoes, handbags and wallets.

Djelibeybi literally means 'Child of the Djel'.
