Many hermits were based in hermitages or follies on noble land. There was a hermit with one skull in Hawkstone (according to Justin Lovell). Hunting the Hermit took place in Painshill in 2008. No hermit is in permenant residence any more.

The only hermit named as such features in Snuff. He is a resident of the Ramkin property Crundells' grounds, more specifically a grotto built for the purpose by Mad Jack Ramkin. He practices celibacy, apart from on his holidays, as did his father and his grandfather before him. The skulls of his forebears also reside here (apart from where they go missing).
