How do we decide who constitutes a Faculty member and who is one of the "other" Wizards? It seems to me that several people listed as Faculty members should be moved to the other category- especially since two of the wizards in the other category are the same person... I wonder who decided that it was a sort of executive council (in the particular, it was AgProv). All the definitions of faculty I find refer to the entire staff of a university or college thereof. I don't even think there is an "executive"; there's Ridcully herding a gang of goofy contrarians. A number of the other titles are either Rincewind or Stibbons as well. Also, what other category? --Old Dickens 14:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

The "As over two thousand changes are needed, and most wizards are sent on two or more missions, it is possible to infer that there are between five hundred and a thousand wizards at the University with some sort of arcane speciality and maybe even tenure, most of whom are not seen except at mealtimes." section, which then proceeds to list the Prehumous Professor of Morbid Bibliomancy, the Professor of Revolvings, the Professor of Extreme Horticulture as typical wizards of this category.
But you're right, I'm not sure where the executive council thing came from. Perhaps there should be a "University Council" list, and then a list of everyone else? TC01 14:13, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

Sure, but how to assign them? I count nine regulars, but you wouldn't include Rincewind (incompetent), the Bursar (insane), or the Librarian (inhuman) in the council, so perhaps three categories? At the same time, these are more important characters overall than Recent Runes or Indefinite Studies, e.g. --Old Dickens 14:34, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

I remember in Unseen Academicals ponder referred to the "college council" cant remember exactly what context but may be a good place to start -BOZZ 16:43, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

There's also reference to the council in A Collegiate Casting-Out of Devilish Devices. Ridcully, the Dean, Stibbons, Recent Runes, Indefinite Studies, Senior Wrangler, and the Librarian are mentioned in dialogue. TC01 15:51, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

That seems a likely list for the "council". Always hard to tell about the Librarian, but he's more sensible than most of them, and a useful sergeant-at-arms, in extremis. Then there are featured Wizards: Rincewind, Bursar, John Hicks/Hix lately, two Professors of Morbid Bibliomancy... and a list of cameos and mentions. Old Dickens 16:20, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
