It is worth wondering whether TP himself visited Blackgang Chine in his youth, and similarly wandered over the down to see those disused (and in one instance incomplete) lighthouses. The connection (maze, cruet set, folly) may well have been the source of the "Great Maze of Sto Lat". --[[User:Lias Bluestone|Lias Bluestone]] ([[User talk:Lias Bluestone|talk]]) 23:41, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Cruet Set

"Cruet set": On the Isle of Wight, on St. Catherine's Down, there are the remains of a pair of lighthouses, affectionately known as "the Pepper Pot" and "the Mustard Pot". See https://www.wightpedia.org.uk/detail2.php?id=st-catherines-old-lighthouse-the-mustard-pot-

These are a short walk from the tourist park of Blackgang Chine, which hosts (or at least it did back in the 1960s) one of those mazes which once experienced always remembered.

It is worth wondering whether TP himself visited Blackgang Chine in his youth, and similarly wandered over the down to see those disused (and in one instance incomplete) lighthouses. The connection (maze, cruet set, folly) may well have been the source of the "Great Maze of Sto Lat". --Lias Bluestone (talk) 23:41, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
