Interesting idea! Although my recollection is that the Kite was made of the finest available wood, which stretched Ankh-Morpork's technology to the limit, the idea of a wooden spaceship looking like the MF raises a grin...[[User:AgProv|AgProv]] ([[User talk:AgProv|talk]]) 21:32, 14 June 2014 (UTC)
Ah - Just looked back at the illustrations and see what you mean. Lots of wood with bits of metal. Ah well, still a nice sort-of parallel.
