Star Wars Reference?

It's just occurred to me: considering the shape of the Kite, and that it's metallic, there could be a potential reference to 'The Millennium Falcon'. --Verity (talk) 18:51, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Interesting idea! Although my recollection is that the Kite was made of the finest available wood, which stretched Ankh-Morpork's technology to the limit, the idea of a wooden spaceship looking like the MF raises a grin...AgProv (talk) 21:32, 14 June 2014 (UTC)

Ah - Just looked back at the illustrations and see what you mean. Lots of wood with bits of metal. Ah well, still a nice sort-of parallel. --Verity (talk) 17:06, 16 June 2014 (UTC)

The Mysterious Cities of Gold

While it may be mostly wooden, it still has a bronze/gold colour which, along with the overall design (except for the Salmon), reminds me very strongly of Golden Condor vehicle that features in The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Not really sure there's enough to really count this as a reference, but given the cartoon in question was produced in the early 1980s, it could have been at least an influence? Though once you're making some kind of aircraft based closely on a bird of prey, they're all going to look reasonably similar... -- Guybrush (talk) 01:09, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
