Given the description of The Giant in I Shall Wear Midnight should some mention of it be made in the annotations?--Megahurts 15:06, 26 October 2010 (CEST)

There seems to be a lot of confusion here. The Chalk's giant is a hill figure which likely resembles the Cerne Abbas version, as pictured. The Long Man, in Lancre, is a simple arrangement of three mounds, as described at the beginning of the article. I don't think there's a suggestion of much similarity, except in the broad theme. Mind you, making stuff up has become very popular here lately, so perhaps we should consider the internal truthiness of each contributor's vision and not be too judgmental? --Old Dickens 23:52, 26 October 2010 (CEST)

Compromise edit made noting similarity of concept, but difference of execution and geographical seperation of Long Man and Chalk Giant. Some academic bumph on phallic gate guardians of varying kinds, and two more national permutations on the Arthur myth. --AgProv 11:27, 27 October 2010 (CEST)

"making stuff up has become very popular here lately" - a topic for dicussion in Biers, perhaps sharing examples and reinforcing groundrules for editing to conform to the canonical text? Perhaps suggesting Dr Whiteface's fanon-wiki for imaginative exercises, worthy in their own right, but which are just not, alas, justified by context and evidence? --AgProv 11:27, 27 October 2010 (CEST)

Yes you're quite right - I shoved it in without checking and I apologise. I went to bed wondering if it was right, but the knew the Truth Gnomes would sort it all out for me by the time I logged back on, and hey presto! They did. Sorry for any inconvenience though - I know it's a bugger to sort them all out.--Knmatt 22:05, 27 October 2010 (CEST)
