Vlad de Magpyr is the son of Count de Magpyr. His name is apt when you consider that Roundworld's Vlad the Impaler's name in Romanian is Vlad Dracul, which can be interpreted in two ways, the first translation from Romanian would be "Dragon", but it sometimes also means "Devil". Vlad was known as Vlad Dracula, the added "a" meaning "son of", so essentially, throughout his life, he was known as the "son of the Devil".

So, all in all, not a bad way to connect Vlad de Magpyr with an even darker figure.

In Carpe Jugulum Vlad is seen as a clever, powerful vampire who develops an irresistible yearn to understand Agnes Nitt. He doesn't understand the Perdita inside her, and so watches her closely.
