The Wilderness is an area in Al Khali, Klatch where the Seriph, Creosote writes poetry. Given that Creosote is written about in the past tense in later books, this area may no longer exist. In the centre of the the Wilderness is the Seriph's palace or Rhoxie.

Annotation

It may be inspired by Xanadu from Coleridge's unfinished poem, Kublai Khan.
Although more obviously by the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám: "Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!"
