The following dark is a circle with two diagonal and presumably more or less paralell lines.--Teletran 09:50, 27 January 2007 (CET)

Is there any reason why we can't open something like MSpaint, make these signs, and post them here?--CommanderJake, AMCW 19:42, 27 January 2007 (CET)

None that I can think of. Well, I can, but they'd be silly reasons. Like, you speak of "we" but I'm not coming over to your house to do it ;). --Sanity 22:49, 27 January 2007 (CET)

I'd be happy to have a crack at it, I'm a dab hand at photoshop and I've even made some fonts recently.--Teletran 02:59, 28 January 2007 (CET)

My attempt at mine sign. The program I was using crashed after I finished the first symbol so there may be some slight differences in form and scale between the two groups of symbols. I'm open to any sugestions for the improvment of these images.--Teletran 08:12, 30 January 2007 (CET)

It looks good! --Sanity 14:06, 30 January 2007 (CET)

..but I think the long dark sign is usually thought of more like :File:Tube2.jpg...(as for other Tubular, Underground creations.)...--Old Dickens 19:20, 31 January 2007 (CET)

We strive for perfection--Teletran 04:33, 6 February 2007 (CET)

This article refers to a sign called "The Guarding Dark." Should this be a mine sign? The Guarding Dark itself says, "He [Sam Vimes] created me." Shouldn't this be its own page under "Anthropomorphic personification?" The article about "Imaginary Friends" also covers this a bit. I'm not sure that this is an imaginary friend either since one is often aware of one's imaginary friends and Sam Vimes doesn't seem to be aware of this entity at all. His response to any prompts from this entity is "That's what a watchman does." Are there any thoughts on this? -- A. N. Macon 12:58, 27 August 2007

I've been assuming the Guarding Dark symbol (if it exists) is more likely to be something similar to The Metropolitan Police Force's flag [1] than the one currently shown. --Megahurts 12:07, 4 November 2010 (CET)

The image for the Summoning Dark bothers me. In every instance in the book, what is described is clearly not something with a cats eye and a forked tail. It should be something simple like a circle with a dot in it, and some kind of simple curve coming off it. If you look at the places where it is described (in the garden shed at UU, on the thud board, in the nursery, etc), and consider the general descriptions of mine sign, it should be much more simple than presented here.

On the other hand, this is the image presented in the first editions of the book. Very regularly, in fact. It is the frontispiece and - for want of a better word - endispiece, for a start. SO we're all going with it as is, on the basis that TP presumably approved it for use in his books...--Knmatt 20:21, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
