== An odd observation ==

Probably too tenuous and tangential to be an annotation, but recently I've been watching an odd little children's cartoon popular in France and Switzerland called '''''Tituef'''''.  ''Tituef'' can be best described as the sort of character ''Dennis the Menace'' might have been were he to have been born French: the school bad boy and rogue and leader of a juvenile gang. Like DtM, he originated as a print cartoon comic book, and was later animated. I describe it as "odd" because the pre-adolescent kids in this show are allowed a degree of sexual awareness that would never be permitted in Britain in a million years - maybe social attitudes are far more relaxed over there. (Or perhaps one of those kids' shows where adult-orientated jokes are slyly inserted for the benefit of the parents). Anyway, the school nurse at Tituef's school is drawn as a rather sexualised character who stops conversation among the lads when she walks past: whole story arcs are constructed around fictitious ailments created so as to get an opportunity to be up close and personal to her. == Another odd observation ==

I'm not looking for these... but this one leapt out at me. Watching a re-run of the old cop show ''Bergerac'' from 1987,  about a detective in the Channel Islands. Enjoyable hokum, this one revolves around a training school in fencing and swordsmanship where passions get inflamed and a lot of people suddenly start dying of stab wounds inflicted by long thin-bladed weapons. (hmmm). The school is run by native French people of the old Bourbon nobility, and French-speaking Channel islanders. (Although they'd prefer ''les iles normandes''). 

It's all to do with the legendary two swords of the chevalier Roussillon, which were buried with him and have apparently been stolen from his grave. Members of the noble house have sworn vengeance. The killer - and thief of ''les deux-epées'' - is the hitherto unregarded Marianne Roussillon (Cherry Gillespie), a beautiful lady who turns out to be deadly with swords and a ruthless Assassin.
