A Quirmian name corrupted to Morporkian?
Perhaps originally something like (La Rue) Qui de Lointain - Coming from Afar Street - corrupted to "Kiddling", or (La Rue) Quai de Lointain - the quay/dock/landing stage (for those) from far away.
- The multicultural nature of Quirm continues to fascinate me. On one hand, the dominant culture seems to be French, but there are apparent Italian and even Spanish elements with a huge representation of Morporkians, including the ruling Rodleys. Girls come from all over to the Quirm College for Young Ladies but none of them seems to be Quirmian. It's a bit like the Province/Nation de Québec, or is it like Switzerland, or a Channel Island (hmm...Herm)? --Old Dickens 01:21, 24 July 2011 (CEST)
