The N'Kouf are a tribe from "the dark hinterland" of Klatch and Howondaland who were anthropologised by Lady Alice Venturi during one of her long travels through the region. She was very interested in their courtship rituals and collected a lot of material together in her books The Harem Frescoes of Old Klatch, Interesting Customs Among the N'Kouf, and Travels in the Dark Hinterland.

Annotation
