At the time of the writing of {{G!G!}}, the name '''Reet''' could commonly be encountered in Roundworld, in certain socio-economic milieux, as a contraction of the name '''Rita'''.
As such, the name '''Reet''' (perhaps unfairly) stereotypically evokes connotations of {{wp|Lad culture|ladette culture}}.
One supposes that TP was well aware of this connotation.

A Lady of Negotiable Affection in the Ankh-Morpork Seamstresses' Guild. Reet was Corporal Carrot's first friend on arriving in Ankh-Morpork. He saved her from an unlicensed theft, and later took her on a stroll showing her examples of the impressive ironwork of the city.

She is not likely to be the daughter of Nanny Ogg. Wyrd Sisters tells us that Reet Ogg has 'babbies'. Even given Nanny's relaxed outlǫǫk on life the chances of this character being her daughter seem remote. It is probably just the author's minor character name recycling policy.

Annotations

At the time of the writing of Guards! Guards!, the name Reet could commonly be encountered in Roundworld, in certain socio-economic milieux, as a contraction of the name Rita.

As such, the name Reet (perhaps unfairly) stereotypically evokes connotations of ladette culture.

One supposes that TP was well aware of this connotation.
