Okay - going to channel a bit of Ponder Stibbons here.... Discworld is notorious for the mystical connotation behind the number eight. (Color of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Sorcery...) So a tesseractical floor, being a physical location within an eight sided cube inside an eight sided cube might be responsible for a 8 to the 8th power compression of the magical field which would result in a random magic field similar to the one Rincewind and Two-Flower passed through in The Color of Magic.  Toilets turning into Sheep should be counted as a fairly benign expression of this random magic since it could have been the other way around really resulting in comments of dubious taste about the warmth of toilet seats and softness of toilet paper.
