I have to defer to local knowledge, but I had assumed that "Tinhead Ned" referred to Ned Kelly and his bullet-proof helmet.--Old Dickens 21:18, 25 April 2007 (CEST)
Somewhat later, Googling "Tinhead Ned" turns up, after this article, many references to Ned Kelly and not a mention of nails. I may stray from long-standing policy and edit an annotation. --Old Dickens (talk) 04:55, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
