I've had a go at cleaning this up by separating out the info into three linked articles - for the game, the person and the year - and copyediting it so we're at least paraphrasing the book. There are a lot of entries which just reproduce Terry's jokes or those found in the companion books, which isn't really what we're here for. -- [[User:Guybrush|Guybrush]] ([[User talk:Guybrush|talk]]) 07:45, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

What am I missing?

So, this is an article about a year... but the second paragraph talks about a "game" being an amalgamation of things I've never heard of. Can someone clarify? Or it the article itself as confused as I am? <shrug> Moishe Rosenbaum (talk) 19:52, 14 December 2022 (UTC)

Quoted almost verbatim from the footnote on p.52. Complain to the late Mr Pratchett. It might be explained that it was played by a Ramkin ancestor of dubious character but enormous alcoholic capacity. --Old Dickens (talk) 01:48, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
The game in question is "Saddle Pork", as mentioned in the first sentence, but really that ought to have its own entry as this article is just about the year. We should also be wary of just verbatim reproducing text from the books without clearly identifying it as such... -- Guybrush (talk) 07:29, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

I've had a go at cleaning this up by separating out the info into three linked articles - for the game, the person and the year - and copyediting it so we're at least paraphrasing the book. There are a lot of entries which just reproduce Terry's jokes or those found in the companion books, which isn't really what we're here for. -- Guybrush (talk) 07:45, 15 December 2022 (UTC)

Better, if a lot of work for little reward. --Old Dickens (talk) 16:42, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
This looks great, Guybrush. I didn't remember that footnote at all! Perhaps because I've only "read" snuff on audio book several times. Suppose I should get a hardcopy. <shrug> Thanks! Moishe Rosenbaum (talk) 17:36, 15 December 2022 (UTC)
