"(Steerpike dies trying in Ghormenghast, but at this point, he has mutated into an embittered scarred and burnt villain who, interestingly enough, conceals a mutilated face behind a mask... another Roundworld fable creeping in here?) "

This could be a very early echo of Maskerade, foreshadowing a book to be written some time later, and providing an interesting insight into the way TP's fertile mind works. Also of interest in this context, of course, the body of Opera dealing with Ancient Egypt, such as Verdi's Aïda, or Haydn's Queen of Sheba. (Thinks - are there any references in Pyramids to these classic operas?)--80.177.253.74 11:57, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
