Termagants

Mysterious, almost mythical creatures who inhabit the Carpet, in fact they may now be extinct. They have a rare ability to cause premature fossilisation to anybody which looks into their eyes.

Physically they are twice as high as the men of the carpet, with green scales on their tails and faces. They also have large misty blue eyes and bony clawed feet.

One was encountered during The Carpet People that was alone and lonely, it may have been the last of its kind. It used to be worshipped in its own temple where people brought it offerings of coins and jewels, it even wore some of the chains.

There was no cure known for its curse but Snibril discovered that the tears of the Termagant would unfreeze the victim.
