Denephew Boot is a wizard credited with the invention of the term “Pavlovian response”. He found that by a system of rewards and punishments, a dog could be trained to eat a strawberry meringue at the ringing of a bell. His parents had wanted a girl expecting to call her Denise.
Annotations
It can be assumed that the strawberry meringue was more specifically pavlova, a meringue-based dessert originating in either Australia or New Zealand. (Apparently, it's a whole thing.)
