Talk:Cunning Man
The illustration is remarkably unlike the canonical or article description of the Cunning Man. Should it be retained? --Old Dickens (talk) 18:39, 12 December 2012 (PST)
Illustration is a bit of a weak point on this Wiki. We've got some sterling stuff from Kit and Matt Smith, and a lot more which is, perhaps, less good. (Kit's interpretation of Angua cannot be bettered). This has even been said outright on tvtropes - "great Wiki, but why are the pictures so bad?" I posted a defence, saying we're primarily a text-based wiki and if a very good illustrator comes along, they tend to gravitate to a visually based site like deviantArt - it's in the nature of the thing. We have great writers but are weak on picture content. DeviantArt has some genius, superlative, Discworld visuals. (Hoping to persuade a couple of artists to allow their work to be posted here - I had some limited success with this a few years ago.)
I agree aboujt the Cunning Man, though - it's a nice picture in every respect except accuracy. Regretfully - it's gotta go. AgProv (talk) 09:20, 13 December 2012 (PST)
I was wondering if it might be worth noting here that Captain Carrot seems to be immune to the Cunning Man's influence? He's the one that snaps everyone out of it when the Cunning Man appears outside the King's Head in Ankh Morpork, the whole Carrot's Divine kingly powers thing??
