Corgi Books are a British paperback publishing imprint founded in the 1950's as a spin-off from toy and model-makers Corgi. (Famed for diecast car and vehicle models). the name derives from the dog breed, a diminutive Welsh breed renowned for its small compact size and which was thought to be a perfect mascot for a firm making small-size models. Now under different ownership, they specialise in light reading, comic books and tie-ins to film and TV. They have the froanchise to publish tie-in novels and ephemera relating to American TV series such as Star Trek and Transformers, and at the last count were responsible for publishing well overe thirty Pratchett works, including the four published Mapps.
