so where do the Elves fit in who are briefly glimpsed among the throng in Borgle's Commisariat in Holy Wood? (ref:-Moving Pictures). They are described here as "the most elusive of Discworld races", suggesting there are Elves, or a related race, already established on the Disc.

Or perhaps these are true Elves, so seduced by the glamour of Moving Pictures that they are temporarily laying aside all that torture and mind-control stuff for a greater enchantment...--AgProv 00:54, 30 April 2007 (CEST)

Who's more Hollywood than Elves? They're pure superficial glamor. Combine the large magical leakage from Holy Wood and you couldn't keep them away with a bag of horseshoes.--Old Dickens 21:21, 1 May 2007 (CEST)

It could also be the children of elves and humans described in Lords and Ladies who might still be attracted to glamour but not be as cruel. --Confusion 16:34, 20 November 2011 (CET) As we know, half-elves do exist on the Disc - regard the miserable pub lndlord Mankin in Ankh-Morpork. --AgProv 16:49, 20 November 2011 (CET)

This Prattchett guy slams all non major celebs? Thats pretty rich, considering that Terry Prattchett is C rate celeb. Good one. What a mean thing to say. People do their best, ugly or cute.

Thanks for the input, Rocky. Stay out of the sun. --Old Dickens 16:54, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm confused why it's not A list celebs. Wouldn't they have the most power? Some C list celebs such as a bearded writer for example seem strangely human than elf... Marmosetpower 09:25, 6 June 2012 (CEST)

A thought. The elemental spirit of deep winter - the Wintersmith - is male. His counterpart, the Summer Lady, is female. In their own realms, the elf-King inhabits a world of searing, baking, heat. The Elf-Queen inhabits a world of intense chilling winter cold. This reverses the genders of Wintersmith and Summer Lady. Another pointer to their being alien and hostile? And I wonder.... what if the Elf-Queen's next game might involve seducing the Wintersmith and taking him out of the Discworld to her plane of reality.... how might that affect the balance?
