Aaargh. I'm sure I read somewhere that one of Sybil Ramkin's scientifically minded male relatives was called Geoffrey. But there's Joshua/Mad Jack, Woolsthorpe, "Rubber" - and no trace of Geoffrey Ramkin. It'd be fitting if I could establish a link - that "Geoffrey" in these stories is directly based on a Ramkin ancestor. After all, Felicity lives near the Ramkin country estate and must have heard the stories of the eccentric Ramkin ancestors...

also - too tenuous for an Annotation - I recall that "Geoffrey" is the "Everyman" character in many Jethro Tull songs. Rather like Bob Dylan's "Mr Jones", this is the straight unhip breadhead character brought out to be educated in a different way of looking at the world. And this Geoffrey is certainly educated in crapology... AgProv 11:36, 12 June 2012 (CEST)
