If the parellel here is to the various accepted schools of thought within Judaism (TP himself has admitted that there is a certain "Jewishness" to his Dwarfs) then surely the Deep-Down grags would represent Rabbinical thinkers of the Ultra-Orthodox?

Grag Bashfulsson would very certainly be a "Rabbi Lionel Blue [1]" of the Reformed school, but in between these two extremes you have the Conservative (tending towards the Orthodox, while realising there may be some things of worth in the Reform approach, but unwilling to rock the boat and risk schism - the Low King Rhys would fit here) and the Orthodox: Albrecht Albertsson, who is an exemplar of the Old Ways but not quite willing to go to the extreme (deep-down)of the spectrum.

In this school of thought, expatriot Dwarfs living in A-M and other cities, above-ground and far from the mines, would be akin to the Jewish Dispora, singing of exile in Babylon, and promising themselves "next year, in Jerusalem" at every Passover.

If a Jewish contributor with more knowledge of these things could advise here?--AgProv 03:50, 19 October 2007 (CEST)

Interesting. I was thinking they were more akin to the various muslim ulema, but this makes sense too.--Pragmatic Cynic 16:50, 19 October 2007 (GMT)
