Vampyres would be just like vampires if these weren't sooooo out of date. One Überwald clan started calling themselves vampyres, and they ate garlic, enjoyed the sun, and asked town citizens to let them drink their blood as a token of citizenship. Strangely, the townsfolks much preferred the old vampires who came to town only very occasionally and bit only a young lady or two (as opposed to coming every week and biting many people, especially the little kiddies who are of age to show their true spirit of citizenship). This incident is detailed in Carpe Jugulum.

To people who dislike vampires of all kinds, whatever their ways of life are, the vampyres are just vampires who aren't even good at spelling, which they should really be ashamed of, because vampires are usually well-educated members of snobby families.
