Grandad

Grandad is the somewhat cranky tower-master for clacks Tower 181 located in the mountains of Überwald. He is one of the Clacksmen who work the clacks not for money but because he has that directed madness that causes the rattle of the clacks to get into your head until you cannot dream of a day without them. His name is more because of his care for the tower and it's workers then his age because he is only 26. It is unknown what he fears more: that dead clacks men could send messages to the living or that they couldn't.
