Hmmm...rope is made from Cannabis Sativa, the tough-fibered species with very few of the "fun" molecules at the top. Besides, the rope is made from the stalk fibers which don't have many fun molecules anyway. But these guys were grating up old rope and smoking it? Damn, it was boring on those old ships! I'll bet the lash began to sound interesting, never mind rum and buggery. An eight-pounder? Lord Nelson's Trousers! Buggery was a bit different then! --Knmatt 14:58, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

What does "H.A.M.M.S." stand for and where does it appear? --Old Dickens (talk) 00:53, 12 October 2013 (GMT)

Ah. His (or her) Ankh-Morporkian Majesty's Ship, on the HMS, HMCS, HMAS or HMNZS principle. I reckoned it was a logical extension of the mysterious tendency of a long-gone monarchy to leave ghosts behind, everywhere you look. You are of course right. It's (alas) not in the books - this is imaginative deduction creeping in, and I will amend the article accordingly. AgProv (talk) 21:37, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
