Sonja isn't a badly spelled variant of Sonia/Sonia, its just an alternate spelling like Sophia and Sofia Wikipedia:Sonja. Sonja might be a more archaic spelling. Also some speculation exists that both Red Scharoon and Herrena the Henna-Haired Harridan are both parodies of Robert Howard's Red Sonya.
