Given his recolection of things long past and the name, might it be possible that Undershaft was a dwarf?--Zor 23:04, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Hmm. The Dwarves do opera, and the name fits, but is there any specific suggestion? --Old Dickens 23:51, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
I think it's very unlikely. There's no evidence other than the name. We are explicitly told in Mort that dwarfs are only interested in opera that features dwarfs, even though a handful do show up at the Opera House every so often. True, he could be an exception to the rule (Other dwarfs have been exceptions to standard dwarfish behavior), but there's also a scene where Agnes refers to Undershaft, Salzella, and Bucket as "the three men", when they're trying to figure out how to explain that she's going to ghost Christine's role.
I can go through Maskerade to find more stuff, though. TC01 03:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Well there are oddball dwarves and such in the Discworld Universe allready which don't confine to traditional norms about dwarfishness, and frankly an interest in opera is not going to raise that much attnetion among dwarfs when compared to being openly female or having an active Libedo--Zor 20:26, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
