Desmond Pontefract
Sir Desmond Pontefract was resident on Scoone Avenue in the year 1841, and was notorious among postmen for a long driveway and his ownership of large uncompromising guard dogs. A postman called Granville Roberts became a Hero of the Post Office when delivering an extremely fragile and expensive item of glassware to Sir Desmond, and despite dragging a large mastiff (called Saliva) which was deeply embedded in his leg via the fangs, neither dropped the parcel nor hesitated in dragging himself to the front door, suceeding in ringing the bell, then delivering the item into the hands of Sir Desmond's butler, before passing out with pain and loss of blood..
