This is odd; .png is an allowed format and there are others (see File:AaaaDACC.png). It shows up if you click on it: I wonder why no preview. --Old Dickens (talk) 20:47, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

My thoughts precisely. At first I thought it was just me, and that while .png was allowed it wasn't a format the wiki worked best with - providing a link rather than image - but when I saw the same was occurring with a .jpg I began to wonder what was going on. Looking at the uploaded files it looks as if files going back to Nov 20th have been affected with the same problem - whatever that be - and they're .jpg's too. --Verity (talk) 15:39, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

But I don't have the problem (see File:EXP.jpg), except that there are no thumbnails in the Gallery of new files lately. --Old Dickens (talk) 23:42, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
The file is there, the thumbnail is not. So images which are big enough to require a thumbnail are showing a broken link. Click on it though and you'll still see the original file. Something to look into. --Osiris (talk) 00:20, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
So, I begin to grasp: large files (in px, not necessarily KB} can't be thumbnailed on the page, large being somewhere north of 600px. The Gallery, meanwhile, isn't showing thumbnails regardless. It's probably seldom that anything the size of File:Rince cycle.jpg needs to be uploaded, of course; 640x480 is pretty large on the screen. Maybe we could post some guidelines to size and resolution somewhere (Help:editing)? --Old Dickens (talk) 01:34, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
It was a configuration issue, when the picture reaches a certain size a thumbnail should be generated and used instead. However, they weren't being generated. I had some time to sit down and figure it out tonight so they're working now. --Osiris (talk) 02:30, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
Of course I spoke too soon. --Osiris (talk) 02:45, 19 March 2015 (UTC)
