The Big One - editing consensus required, or just go ahead?

How soon is how soon? I ask because one Wiki user has already amended a major character page to add an Event in this book which has so far not been spoilered here. I'm nit denying it will have to be done, but I sensed a Rule of Cautious Wiki Editing should apply for perhaps a month after first publication in Britain - it isn't even in Canada yet...
