I don't have a Dark Side of the Sun, but there is already an article on "Darven Samedhi", written by AgProv and uncontested by other contributors. Which is it?--Old Dickens 01:46, 9 September 2011 (CEST)

Interesting, In the copy of Dark Side of the Sun I am currently using it appears as Samhedi but it is possible that something was changed from the original to the American version. I think it would be best to ask others what their copies say. --Zdm 02:04, 9 September 2011 (CEST)

Samhedi is more popular in Google. All the Samedhis seem to be here. --Old Dickens 02:48, 9 September 2011 (CEST)
I have moved all the information from the incorrect spelled to the correctly spelled article. What should be done with the old one now?--Zdm 07:43, 9 September 2011 (CEST)
It depends on whether AgProv provides some justification for the alternate spelling: either redirect and a publishing note or deletion. --Old Dickens 22:14, 9 September 2011 (CEST)

As I recall, the first-edition Corgi paperback I was using was chocca with alternate character spellings, usually deviant by a couple of transposed letters, which made creating pages on the Wiki into something of a hit-and-miss business. Character names in the blurb on the back page were not those used in the text, and even in the text could be variant. It looks like we've discovered another one here! As "Samedi" appears to be the popular consensus spelling, we should follow the Imtebos/Imbetos rule we worked out after discovering a similar error in Pyramids, where a minor character's name changed within the space of a single page of the first edition paperback. The error was evidently caught in time for later editions and standardised to one definitive spelling, as I think Old Dickens worked out - therefore we noted the error applied to some editions but went with what became, by default, the official spelling. So I have no objections to standardising on "Samedi". --AgProv 00:18, 11 September 2011 (CEST)
