Move finished

If you're seeing this, you're watching the wiki in its new place. It should be faster and better and wash whiter than white. --Sanity 15:18, 11 January 2007 (CET)

Buggered my bookmark and history, though ; I just got a Dutch error message of which the only word I recognised was "ook". It does seem to work quickly now....--Old Dickens 16:15, 11 January 2007 (CET)

Nice URLs

After a small amount of tinkering, the wiki now uses the nice URLs in the same way as wikipedia: wiki.lspace.org/wiki/Article (instead of /index.php/Article) --Sanity 12:48, 4 January 2007 (CET)

Downtime

This is solved now

Due to a harddisk crash, the wiki has been down for a while on Thursday 31 August. Everything has been restored from backup and is temporarily hosted on another machine until the server is reinstalled. The change back to the old server will be accompanied by a small downtime this weekend. --Sanity 00:53, 2 September 2006 (CEST)

I'm guessing we just had the second downtime, and everything is much faster on either machine: can you blow another drive? (I can't log in now, mind you, – it says FATAL ERROR.)

Yep, I can't log in either. The eroor messages is
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class skintemplate in
/home/michel/Sites/wiki.affordable-prawns.co.uk/includes/SkinTemplate.php on line 1007

. – Jeltz

Hm, I see. Will have to try that out on the server to see if it's broken there too. And I'm not going to blow another harddrive. The wiki is actually running on my desktop machine, which admittedly is a lot faster but it's not exactly convenient. --10.0.0.1 20:08, 2 September 2006 (CEST)

..--[:Dunno to me the error message sounds like a configure error in the wiki, but I have never set up a Mediawiki wiki so I don't know. 83.227.141.19 20:57, 2 September 2006 (CEST) (Jeltz)

Seems like others have the same problem.[1] Have you upgrade to a new version? Is there any error log which has a longer report? 83.227.141.19 21:03, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
Another thing worth considering is allowing unregistred users to create pages while people can't get to the log in page. 83.227.141.19 23:49, 2 September 2006 (CEST)
Creating pages isn't as high on the priority list as editing pages, and the opportunities for spamming are too great. So that's a definite no. However, a quick test yesterday showed that on the server where I'm about to move everything, the login page works. Don't ask me why, both machines are equiped with php5 on Ubuntu Dapper. After that, everything should be back to normal. --Sanity 12:57, 3 sep 2006

Move complete. Do report any strange things that may have changed, but as far as I can see it's all working as it was before Friday, including login. This also means slower speeds, but hopefully the fresh setup means less overhead and more speed. --Sanity 16:15, 3 September 2006 (CEST)

The wiki seems to work now, nice. –Jeltz 19:24, 3 September 2006 (CEST)

The URL

As you might have seen, the wiki is now placed under http://wiki.affordable-prawns.co.uk/ (As of 11 Jan 2007, http://wiki.lspace.org/ .) Old pages will be redirected. This change was necessary because the wiki is also becoming more or less officially part of LSpace, by being available from http://wiki.lspace.org/ .
