Talk:Patrician
Wow, it's good to know the L-space timeline broadly agrees with my thoughts on Mort and Patricians, and I worked it out all for myself! Dead chuffed--AgProv 15:31, 9 June 2007 (CEST)
The DWTL places the party in 1967, closer to thirty years before the current storyline. See also : Talk:1957. Unfortunately, the daft bugger who writes this stuff also provided the gratuitous quote from Twurp's saying V. didn't graduate from the Assassins until 1968. --Old Dickens 15:52, 9 June 2007 (CEST)
In the TV-adaptation of The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic, the Patrician is clearly Vetinari. But that could be considered as tidying things up to show them as they should have been. --Sanity 21:56, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- TP used to insist that there was only one, against all the evidence. I wonder why. (In the books, he's clearly not.) Rincewind also appears to be a hundred years old in the TV movie which I don't understand, either. --Old Dickens 22:30, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Are Mad Lord Snapcase and Psychoneurotic Lord Snapcase the same person? The first seems to be someone Rincewind read about as a student, who was hung by his figgin. The second was close to being,or actually was, Rincewind's contemporary. 66.32.25.201 06:37, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Where did Rincewind say that? The DW Timeline is particularly messed up around Rincewind's student days. (There was only one Snapcase that we know of. Some Patricians have been crazy enough for two nicknames.) --Old Dickens 22:29, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
- In Interesting Times, Rincewind mentions that Mad Lord Snapcase had been hung up by his figgin, and then the footnote says that this is according to the history books and Rincewind, in common with every other young student, had looked up "figgin" in the dictionary and found it to be a teacake. It also comments how language must have changed over the years, implying that this was a while before Rincewind became a student... TC01 01:25, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- But if it were before Rincewind was even a student, it would be too long ago for Vetinari's ascension...--Old Dickens 01:41, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- This is when we must invoke the Universal get out of jail free card that is "Quantum". Or alternately blame the history monks.--Beligaronia 03:55, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
- Many do, but it annoys the Cheney out of me. I want things to fit, dammit! . --Old Dickens 22:38, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
