Vanglemesht is mentioned twice outside of the Mapp. Could this have been intended to be the same thing? Or is it something else? TC01 02:33, 14 November 2010 (CET)

That's interesting, as there is a Kahn-Li mentioned in Reaper Man and a country called Khanli on The Discworld Mapp. I have made the assumption these are the same place, (although I always try to be cheeful if I am ever proven wrong!)

Going back to the article on Vanglemesht, though, this specifically says it is about the spoken language, not the country where it is spoken. If the country is Vanglemesh, without a "T", this parellels Roundworld example: eg Germany (the country) is where German (the language) is spoken. Sverige is the name for the country in its own language, which is of course svensk.

Link to Bangladesh

Having just added the Annotation about name comparisons to Bangladesh, I decided it best to hold back from adding too many assumptions to the entry.

What I was thinking of saying though, was from this comparison we might be able to start guessing about the culture and politics of the region. For example, Bangladesh's foreign policy is based on the principle of "friendship towards all and malice towards none". Given Vanglemesh's location - quit close to once invasive Omnia, Istanzia with it's recently transgressing troops (of where we do not know) and various other relatively nearby powers (who, if history teaches us anything, are quite likely to have had little conflicts between each other) a policy like Bangladesh's might prove useful in creating relative benevolent neutrality (if there is such a thing and it's not too paradoxical) and help them avoid any such conflicts. --Verity (talk) 15:20, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

And, the Atlas mentions its extremely hot peppers; see Bhut jolokia. --Old Dickens (talk) 16:39, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
