An alliance of six nations that went to war against Borogravia when the stroppy jingoistic nation's mad god Nuggan declared the clacks towers to be an 'abomination' leading to Borogravia attacking their neighbours, and cutting down the clacks thus cutting communications across the disc. The known nations in the Alliance were local nations hostile to Borogravia and fed up of its constant warmongering, and international powers angry at its disruption of their trade and communications:

  • Ankh-Morpork - Leader of the Alliance, with the Duke of Ankh being sent to act as supreme commander in the close of the war.
  • Genua
  • Zlobenia - Neighbour, ruled by crown Prince Heinrich, who regards himself as heir to the Grand Dutchess of Borogravia, and thus ruler of Borogravia upon her death.
  • Mouldavia - Neighbour of Borogravia, subject to their aggression in the past
  • (Two others unnamed)

Once peace had been restored and Borogravia had surrendered with dignity the alliance broke up, with Ankh-Morpork and the dwarfs supplying food and goods so that Borogravia would not starve during the winter.

When in the spring Prince Heinrich again tried to press his claim to the throne and invaded Borogravia it was highly unlikely that the Alliance re-formed to help Zlobenia, as this was an act of aggression on their part. In fact, it was speculated by Polly Perks that by being smart and using the clacks, newspapers and public opinion Borogravia could instead get Ankh-Morpork to help them.
